LAHORE: The Punjab government has extended the summer vacation for all public and private schools across the province until Aug 31 with institutions set to reopen on Sept 1.
The decision replaces the earlier order to resume courses on August 14 and was made public by the School Education Department on Wednesday.
The letter states that all district education authorities (DEAs) have received instructions to make sure that the updated schedule is strictly followed. Although the notice did not specifically state the rationale for the decision, the prolongation coincides with the province’s continued harsh weather conditions.
This is the second change to the summer academic calendar. School administrators are urged to modify their academic plans in accordance with the amended date, and parents and students are encouraged to take notice of it.
Whether the prolonged break will impact the overall academic year calendar or exams has not yet been announced by the Punjab administration.
Regarding the extending of summer vacations, Punjab School Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat also sent a tweet.
