Due to its expanding economy, lack of trained labor, and easily available immigration routes, Poland has grown in appeal to Pakistani laborers. Pakistani nationals need to obtain a Polish Work Permit and, often, a National Visa (Type-D) in order to work lawfully in Poland. Both the Polish employer and the candidate must complete a number of procedures in the process. Delays and rejection can be avoided by being aware of the process.
Types of Poland Work Permits
Pakistanis can apply for several categories of work permits depending on the job:
-
Work Permit Type A – For most workers employed by a Polish company.
-
Work Permit Type B – For management board members staying over 6 months.
-
Work Permit Type C/E – For employees delegated temporarily to Poland.
-
Seasonal Work Permit (Type S) – For seasonal jobs (up to 9 months).
Most Pakistani applicants usually apply under Type A, which is offered when a Polish employer hires a foreign worker.
Application Process
1. Job Offer & Employer’s Responsibility
The process begins when a Pakistani applicant secures a job from a registered Polish employer. The employer must:
-
Conduct a labour market test (if required) to prove no suitable EU worker is available.
-
Submit the Work Permit application to the Voivodeship Office in Poland.
-
Provide documents describing job duties, salary, and contract details.
The work permit is issued only to the employer, and the worker can join that company under the specified role.
2. Receiving the Work Permit
Once approved, the employer sends the applicant:
-
Original Work Permit (Type A, B, or others)
-
Contract or employment letter
-
Proof of accommodation (if provided)
These documents are essential for the visa application at the Polish Embassy or VAC in Pakistan.
3. Applying for the Poland National Visa (Type-D)
With the work permit in hand, the applicant must book an appointment through e-Konsulat or the official visa application centre.
Required documents include:
-
Valid passport (with at least 2 blank pages)
-
Completed National Visa Application Form
-
Work Permit issued in Poland
-
Employment contract or job offer
-
Proof of accommodation
-
Travel medical insurance (minimum coverage €30,000)
-
Bank statement showing sufficient funds
-
Police clearance certificate
-
Passport-sized photographs (biometric)
-
Visa fee payment proof
During the interview, the applicant may be asked about job duties, employer details, and travel history.
4. Visa Processing
Visa processing usually takes 15–45 days, depending on workload and document verification. Once approved, the worker can travel to Poland and begin employment. After arrival, the worker may apply for a Temporary Residence Card (Karta Pobytu) if staying long-term.
