The Punjab government has sanctioned the long-awaited elevated expressway project in Lahore, a significant infrastructure effort designed to alleviate traffic congestion and enhance travel durations throughout the provincial capital.
The 11-kilometer corridor without signals will extend from Main Boulevard Gulberg to the M-2 Motorway, providing commuters with an alternate path anticipated to relieve congestion on several of the city’s most heavily traveled roads. Authorities stated that the expressway will not only shorten travel duration but also aid in decreasing fuel use and lowering carbon emissions.

The suggested route was examined by Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Director General Tahir Farooq on Thursday. He visited important locations such as Main Boulevard Gulberg, Jail Road, Shama Stop, Samanabad, Gulshan Ravi, and Band Road. He described the project as a “game changer” and underlined how crucial it is to meeting Lahore’s expanding traffic demands.
Millions of vehicles will benefit from the project’s direct connection between Gulberg and the motorway toll plaza, according to a technical briefing given to the DG by LDA Chief Engineer Asrar Saeed and NESPAK representatives.
