Apple likely to dethrone Samsung as the world’s biggest smartphone brand
If a recent market analysis report is accurate, Samsung will cease to be the leading smartphone brand in the world this year. Apple is expected to overtake the South Korean company. Should this forecast prove accurate, it won’t reflect well on Samsung.
Samsung doesn’t have an answer to the iPhone 17
The iPhone 17 series, launched in September this year, has proven to be very successful. Bloomberg indicates that a research note from Counterpoint Research reveals Apple is expected to expand by 10% this year. In contrast, Samsung is projected to expand by only 4.6%, whereas the total smartphone market is anticipated to increase by 3.3%. Apple is poised to secure a 19.4% portion of the worldwide market.
Millions have transitioned from their previous iPhones to the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, and the iPhone 17 Pro Max. Even Android users appear to be migrating to iPhones due to their aspirational appeal and reliable performance. Consequently, Apple has experienced double-digit expansion in key markets such as China and the US. Reports suggest that Apple is expected to maintain its dominance until 2029.
In recent years, the South Korean company has focused more on software enhancements instead of hardware updates to market its latest smartphones. In contrast, Apple has maintained its focus on delivering groundbreaking advancements in chipset capabilities and ecosystem functionalities.
Apple has successfully kept the $799 price for its base iPhone 17 model while introducing significant hardware improvements, such as a high-refresh-rate screen, an anti-glare display, a completely new front camera sensor, quicker charging, and a larger battery.
Samsung will need to put in much more effort if it aims to reclaim its smartphone dominance in the years ahead. It must deliver improved speed in budget and mid-tier phones, enhanced camera components in premium devices, and larger batteries throughout its smartphone lineup
