Tsunami waves have started to strike Ecuador’s Galapagos Islands, based on information from the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center (PTWC).
Data from PTWC indicates that wave heights recorded so far for the islands of Baltra and Santacruz are 1.04 meters (3.4 feet) and 0.4 meters (1.3 feet), respectively.
Ecuador’s Naval Forces Oceanographic Institute (INOCAR) confirmed that the initial wave of the tsunami has begun impacting the Galapagos Islands, with wave heights reaching 1.3 meters (4.3 feet) in certain locations.
